ABOUT VOMAMission The Venue of Merging Art's mission is to "rescue a historically significant former church building by transforming it into a unique venue in which various forms of artistic expression can merge together to promote, educate, entertain, and involve the community in the arts." Constructed in 1911 as St. Mary's Syrian Orthodox Church it served the Lebanese Christian community until 1971 when a new congregation that split off from St. Petka's Serbian Orthodox Church in Woodvale acquired it. In 1977 the church was renamed St. George's Serbian Orthodox Church. No longer home to an active parish, the church building was acquired in 2008 by former Cambria City residents and is being re-purposed into a unique community arts center known as V.O.M.A.
Our Space We are currently raising funds and renovating the space with plans for a summer 2010 opening. While the building lends itself to so many possible uses, initial plans include:
